Teaching While Learning (Part 1)

My Real Experience Starting a Web Development Workshop

I always thought teaching would be easy — until I actually started doing it.

Recently, I began teaching HTML and CSS to my juniors. These are basic skills, but they are the first and most important step in web development. I started this not as a professional teacher, but as someone who is still learning and wanted to share that learning.

This is my honest experience from the first week.

📝Why I Decided to Teach My Juniors

While learning web development, I realized something important:
when you explain concepts to others, you understand them better yourself.

Teaching gave me confidence.
It also made me curious about what a teacher’s life is really like — and trust me, it’s not easy.

I am interested in the teaching field, but I also want to grow in the IT industry. My plan is simple:

  • Gain real IT experience

  • Teach alongside my job

  • Share real-world knowledge with juniors

  • Motivate them with practical examples, not just theory

🧑🏼‍🏫Starting TechShakti Classes

To make things serious and organized, I created a small group called TechShakti Classes.

I designed a logo, created an online group, and invited juniors who genuinely wanted to learn.
Right now, there are 10 students.

This is my first time handling students, and honestly, it feels both exciting and scary.

📚Week 1: Teaching HTML From Scratch

In the first week, I started with HTML from zero.

I explained:

  • What HTML is

  • How a webpage works

  • Basic tags

  • Simple page structure

I also decided to take a weekly test, just to understand how much they were learning.

💹The Result?

The results were not good.

At first, I felt disappointed.
I thought maybe I didn’t explain properly.
Or maybe the students didn’t understand the importance.

But then I realized — this is normal.

👩🏼‍🏫What Teaching Taught Me in Just One Week

This one week taught me more than I expected:

  • Every student learns differently

  • Theory alone doesn’t work

  • Teaching needs patience

  • Explaining is harder than learning

  • Teachers work very hard behind the scenes

This experience made me respect teachers even more.

💡What I am Changing Next Week

Instead of feeling discouraged, I decided to change my approach.

Next week, I plan to:

  • Make learning more interactive

  • Add fun while teaching

  • Focus on small real-time projects

  • Explain concepts using practical examples

I truly believe:

Students don’t learn by memorizing — they learn by building.

Our education system focuses too much on theory. I want my juniors to create something, even if it’s small.

🔔My Belief About Learning Web Development

For me, web development is not about remembering tags.
It’s about:

  • Understanding how things work

  • Making mistakes

  • Fixing them

  • Learning from real projects

That’s the approach I want to give my students.

This is just the first week of a one-month workshop, and I already feel changed.

I don’t know what the next week will bring —
but I’m ready to improve, learn, and grow with my students.
